Los Angeles Electric 8, the world’s only electric guitar octet, offers this lecture/demonstration highlighting similarities and differences between the traditions of Indonesian gamelan and American minimalism, including the role of improvisation in both. The program will conclude with a Q & A. This event is open to members of the Georgetown University community. The ensemble will have its East Coast premiere performance with a full program at Strathmore the following evening, April 29.
